I kept getting 'Access is denied' errors after typing this inside the cmd, and frankly, its just super goddamn annoying. Icacls C:\$Windows.~BT\*.* /T /grant administrators:F Even using the legendary CMD did not work. The $WINDOWS.~BT folder requires extensive permissions, so you can't just simply delete them manually. The most common way is to use the disk cleanup tool, and clean up system files, but what if it doesn't work? Well, that's what happened in my case. After doing research online, I found out that it was just a file that contained previous windows updates, so I can remove it with no side effects (actually there are, but more on that later). Now, to give context, $WINDOWS.~BT was taking up around 25 GB of space on my computer, and I did not know what it was. In this post, I will be teaching you how to remove the $WINDOWS.~BT folder, by a method I devised myself.
